Badgers set to play first NCAA Regional as a team since 2008

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's golf is headed to Bath, Michigan to compete in their first NCAA Regional as a team since 2008. The team will play 54 holes from Monday, May 15 to Wednesday, May 17 at the Eagle Eye Golf Club with the hopes of advancing to the NCAA Championship.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:

1. Last Time Out: The Badgers last competed at the 2023 Big Ten Championship in Galloway, New Jersey, placing third overall. Due to the weather, the final round of the championship was not played and after 36 holes, the Badgers finished 15-over par at the Galloway National Golf Club totaling 299-284=583. The team recorded their best finish at a Big Ten Championship since the 1995-1996 season, where they placed 2nd (1187) and 1993-1994, where they placed 1st (1151). Third-ranked Illinois took home the title, carding an eight-under to lead them to their eighth straight championship win. Cameron Huss led the Badgers with a one-over par, placing him in 12th, while Maxime Legros trailed closely behind with a two-over par to tie for 13th. Legros was also named to the All-Big Ten Second Team later that week.

2. The Course: The 2023 NCAA Regional will take place at the Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Michigan. The 7,126-yard rolling "links" style course is set to be played as a Par 71. Designed by Chris Lutzke in collaboration with Pete Dye, the Eagle Eye Championship Golf Course is consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the nation. With its signature "Island Green" at hole #17, unique waterways and severe bunkers, Eagle Eye offers an exciting challenge.

3. The Tournament: The NCAA Regional is set to be played from Monday, May 15 to Wednesday, May 17 with 18 holes being played on each day. Golfers will tee off on holes #1 and #10 beginning at 7:00 a.m. CT on all three days. As the No. 11 seed, Wisconsin pairings will begin to tee off on hole #10 at 8:25 a.m. CT each day.

4. The Field: Teams competing in the regional are Illinois, Florida, Texas, Oregon, Kansas State, Georgia, Liberty, San Diego, Little Rock, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Illinois State and Purdue University-Fort Wayne. Maxime Legros, Cameron Huss, Clayton Tribus, Coalter Smith and Max Schwarz will start in the lineup for the Badgers, while Graham Moody will remain available as a substitute. Five players will represent Wisconsin each day, with the top four scores of each round counting toward the team score. Teams are allowed to sub in a player after each round, with the player's score only counting towards the team score and not the individual.
