Box Score TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Wisconsin men's tennis team started its fall season this past weekend as it faced Alabama, Ole Miss and Auburn as part of the SEC/Big Ten Challenge. Wisconsin, Michigan and Purdue represented the Big Ten Conference at the tournament. 

Half of the team traveled down south to Alabama, including senior Mihailo Popovic and newcomers Matthew Fullerton, Collin Beduhn and Oliver Olsson. The Badgers led off the season with both doubles and singles tournament play.

Throughout the three-day tournament, freshman Matthew Fullerton was able to find success, winning his first two singles matches, and leading the Badgers in singles wins. Fullerton defeated Alabama's Yair Sarouk 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 on Friday and Ole Miss' Gordon Whitwell 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 on Saturday.

The Badgers struggled in doubles play, losing all six of their matches, but will look to improve ahead of their next tournament in less than a week.

The Badgers head east to Milwaukee to compete in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic at Marquette's Helfaer Tennis and Recreation Center this Friday through Sunday.
