MADISON, Wis. – The 22nd-ranked Wisconsin men's swimming and diving team (5-1, 3-0 BIG) wrapped up the home portion of its schedule with a dual meet win over Green Bay on Friday at the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center. The Badgers picked up 14 event wins to finish the meet with a 178-97 victory over the Phoenix.
Freshman Luukas Vainio continues to shine in the long-distance freestyle, starting the Badgers off strong with a win in the 1000 free with a season-best time of 9:04.53. Charlie Jones kept up the long-distance freestyle momentum with a win in the 500 free with a time of 4:23.19. Nico Butera placed second with a time of 4:34.84.
Senior Jake Newmark picked up a couple of individual event wins on Friday, including the 100 free in 45.38. Newmark also hit the wall first in the 200 free, with a time of 1:37.95. Jude Williams followed him, placing second with a time of 1:39.48.
Sophomore Dominik Mark Torok continues to dominate in the 100 fly, earning another first-place finish against the Phoenix. Torok won the event in 47.30 to lead the Badger sweep, with Nathan Welker right behind in second with a time of 47.61 and Truman Teduits in third with a final time of 49.19.
