
Five things to know: Badgers set to compete at Big Ten Championships

UW opens postseason action in Ohio
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's track and field team continues its indoor season at the Big Ten Conference Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The meet runs from Friday through Saturday at The Spire. Friday's events start at 9:40 a.m. CT and at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, CT.

Here are five things to know going into the competition:
1. THROWING DOWN WITH THE BADGERS: Wisconsin looks to score well in the throws this weekend as redshirt senior Chloe Lindeman and graduate student Olivia Roberts both ranked in the top five in the weight throw.
Lindeman sits first all-time at Wisconsin in the weight throw at 78 feet, 0 inches (23.77m), while senior Olivia Roberts ranks third at Wisconsin with a throw of 73-2 ¾ (22.23m). Lindeman and Roberts went 2-3 at the 2023 Big Ten Championships. The Badgers have one other thrower ranked in scoring position heading into the championships – redshirt junior Chikere Oduocha is seventh at 69-4 ¾ (21.15m).
In the shot put, Sophomore Danni Langseth will compete in her second Big Ten Championships, she currently ranks 14th in the Big Ten at 51-6 ¼ (15.70m).
2. ADDING A SPARK: Sprint star Kiley Robbins will compete in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter in Chicago this weekend. Robbins is coming off a personal best performance in the 60 meters at the Badgers Windy City Invitational, crossing in 7.24 for a first-place finish; she also ran a personal best in the 200-meter crossing in 24.15, that time moved her up to third on UW's top-10 list.
3. LOADED MIDDLE AND DISTANCE EVENTS: The Badgers have strong entries in all of the distance events this weekend, headlined by junior Leane Willemse, who will be competing in the 3,000 meters she is coming off of a third-place finish at the Badgers Windy City Invitational, with a personal best time of 9:04.77. The Mequon native now sits fifth on UW's all-time indoor list, and her time ranks third in the Big Ten. Alexa Westley, Vivian Hacker, and Victoria Heiligenthal will join Willemse.
Graduate student Madison Mooney will be back competing in the 800 meters. She is coming off a personal best in the event, crossing in 2 minutes and 04.58 seconds. That time moved her to third on UW's indoor list, and she ranks fourth in the Big Ten this season.
4. LEAPS AND BOUNDS: Freshman jump star Elissa Perkins will debut in the triple jump in the Big Ten. Perkins is coming off of a second-place finish in the triple jump, where she marked a personal best jump of 40-6 (12.34m), she is No.9 on UW's All-Time list.
5. MULTI-EVENT STARS: The Badgers have three of the top 15 performers in the pentathlon entering the championships. Sophomore Shaina Zinter ranks second with 3,956 points, and she finished seventh last year at Big Tens with 3,736 points. A duo of freshmen are set to compete in their first championships as Kyla Saleh and Maddie Hogan go into the weekend ranked 11th and 14th, respectively.
