Badgers wrap up Big Ten Championships

Robbins captures first Big Ten title

GENEVA, Ohio – Behind a Big Ten title in the 60-meter dash, the Wisconsin women's track and field team finished sixth at the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday. The Badgers scored 67 points, while Illinois won the team title with 104.

Senior Kiley Robbins highlighted the day, winning her first Big Ten individual title in the 60-meter dash. Robbins won the event, crossing in 7.22 seconds, a new personal best, and improved her time as the school-record holder. Robbins is the first Badger in school history to win the 60-meter dash individual championship race, and she holds the third fastest time in Big Ten history in the event.

Leane Willemse collected her second medal of the weekend in the 3000 meters. The junior finished the second, crossing in 9:18.51, a day after she won the 5000 meters. Victoria Heiligenthal also picked up points for the Badgers as she finished fourth with a personal best time of 9:20.36.

Graduate student Madison Mooney scored a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters  in  2:07.14 

Robbins was back competing in the 200 meters, and she finished eighth in the loaded final, crossing in 24.32.  

Redshirt sophomore Danni Langseth earned herself a seventh-place finish in the shot put with a personal best throw of 53 feet, 1 ½ inches (16.19m). That distance moved Langseth up to sixth on UW's All-Time list.

Qualifying athletes will travel to Boston for the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships, the nation's top athletes will compete Friday, March 8, through Saturday, March 9. Events will begin at 2:00 pm on Friday, and fans can catch the action live on the ESPN family of networks.
