Badgers look to grab third win of the season at conference tournament
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's golf team is looking to pick up their third win of the season as they head to the 2024 Big Ten Championships held at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio. The Badgers will play a total of 54 holes from Friday, April 26, and Sunday, April 28.Â
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:
1. Last Time Out: The Badgers picked up their second tournament win of the spring after finishing 12-under par (279-279-282=840) at the Hawkeye Invitational. Cameron Huss, who was named the Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week, paced the 90 individuals golfing in the Invitational for his second title of the season. The senior finished 12-under par after tying his career-low 54-hole score of 201 (66-66-69). Huss also set a new career-low 36-hole score of 132 (66-66) thanks to an impressive first two rounds. The Badgers, who were ranked 91st in the Clippd top-100, paced both Illinois State (#73) and Kansas (#65) in the tournament to close the regular season. Wisconsin set a new team-best 36-hole score of 558, beating out the previous best set at the 2022 Puerto Rico Classic by one stroke (559). The team also matched their season-best 54-hole score of 840, which was previously made at the Invitational at the Ford (840, -24).

2. The Course: Designed by Donald Ross in 1916, the par-70, 7,240-yard course at Scioto Country Club is known as one of the best courses in the state of Ohio. In 2021, the course was restored to reflect the original design including sharp-faced bunkering and rebuilt greens. Scioto has hosted multiple major events, such as the U.S. Open (1926) and PGA Championship (1950).Â
3. The Tournament: The Championship will be played from Friday, April 26, and Sunday, April 28, with 18 holes set to be played on each day. Tee times are set for 8 a.m. CT (Hole 1) and 8:20 a.m. CT (Hole 10) on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday's third round will tee off at 7 a.m. CT (Hole 1) and 7:20 a.m. CT (Hole 10).Â
4. The Field: The invitational will feature #18 Illinois, #46 Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, #84 Michigan, #74 Michigan State, #98 Minnesota, Nebraska, #44 Northwestern, #37 Ohio State, Penn State, #28 Purdue, #88 Rutgers and #89 Wisconsin. Ten of the 14 teams competing in the Championship are ranked in the Clippd top 100, with Illinois leading the pack. Representing the Badgers is Cameron Huss, Jacob Beckman, Coalter Smith, Blake Wisdom and Daniel Aas. Spencer Turtz will join Wisconsin as an alternate. Huss is currently ranked 72nd in the Clippd top 100.Â
