MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's rowing travels to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts, for this Sunday's Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges Championships, more commonly known as the Eastern Sprints.
1. EXPECTIONS: The Badgers are seeded No. 12 in the varsity eight, with Princeton the top seed. UW's second varsity eight is seeded 14th, with Princeton again seeded No. 1. UW also earned the No. 12 seed in the third and fourth varsity eight events. Princeton and Yale garnered the top seeds in those events, respectively.
Crews from Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Northeastern, Boston University, Brown, Dartmouth, Syracuse, Pennsylvania, Cornell, Columbia, Navy, Georgetown and Holy Cross will compete in the event.

2. SPRINTS HISTORY: Wisconsin's varsity eight owns three Eastern Sprints titles all time, including in the inaugural event back in 1946. UW also captured varsity eight titles in 2002 and 2008.
The Badgers also own a pair or Rowe Cups as overall team champion from 1946 and 2008.
The UW second varsity eight's victory in 2012 marks the most recent varsity boat win at the event.
3. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers competed for the first time in school history at the Windermere Cup in Seattle against second-ranked Washington and the Italian National Team. The Huskies were first to cross in the line in both the varsity and second varsity eight races, with UW third.

4. FOLLOW THE ACTION: Racing at the Eastern Sprints is slated to start at 8 a.m. CT with the first varsity eight heat. Afternoon finals are set to begin at 1:30 p.m., with the varsity eight grand final launching at 5:30 p.m. to close out racing. Schedule subject to change.
