Five things to know: Badgers welcome DePaul and Princeton

Wisconsin begins dual action at Nielsen Tennis Stadium

1. HOME OPENER: Wisconsin men's tennis takes on DePaul in the 2025 home opener this weekend. First serve is set for noon at Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Badgers also host Princeton on Sunday at 3 p.m. Admission is free for both matches at Nielsen.

2. FLORIDA SUN: Wisconsin opened spring competition at the FAU Invite last weekend. Wisconsin took on Mercer, FAU and Army in a hidden duals format. Freshman Edouard Aubert earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after going 3-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles action.

Aubert notched wins at No. 6, No. 3 and No. 2 singles in matches against Mercer, FAU and Army, respectively. Aubert won all three singles matches in straight sets. He also posted a 2-0 doubles record during the weekend, teaming up with Tomas Zlatohlavek and Patrik Meszaros.

Aubert, a Geneva, Switzerland native, joined the Badgers after playing in the Swiss youth circuit. He was a singles champion at the U18 Swiss Championships and toured throughout Europe from 2021-24.

3. KNOW YOUR OPPONENTS: Wisconsin holds a 22-2 record over DePaul in the all-time series. DePaul scored a 4-3 win in last year's meeting in Madison. UW had scored 12 straight wins in the series prior to last season's match.

The Badgers will meet the Princeton Tigers for the 13th time ever. UW holds a 7-5 edge in the all-time series. Princeton claimed a 6-1 win last fall.

Princeton has three players ranked in the ITA's top 150 with Paul Inchauspe (No. 19), Top Nidunjianzan (No. 52) and Landon Ardila (No. 105) all listed in the organization's Dec. 3 rankings.

4. FOLLOW THE ACTION: Live stats and video for both matches are available on uwbadgers.com. Live updates on the Badgers can be found on Twitter (@BadgerMTennis) and Instagram (@wisconsintennis) and recaps from each day of action will be posted on uwbadgers.com.

5. UP NEXT: After the opening weekend at Nielsen, the Badgers will host SMU on Friday, Jan. 24. First serve is set for noon.
