MADISON, Wis. -
The Wisconsin men's soccer team will open its 2025 campaign with a pair of home games, the first against North Florida on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., followed by an afternoon contest with Bradley on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Here are five things to know as the 2025 season begins.

1 – NEW NAMES – The men's soccer team added a plethora of new Badgers to the roster since the fall 2024 season. The No. 13 recruiting class in the nation, according to Top Drawer Soccer, includes nine freshman and nine transfers. Among the transfers are graduate students Alejandro Coury and Bart Muns who have a combined 6 seasons of collegiate experience, along with multiple conference honors.

2 – LEADING THE PACK – Head coach Neil Jones enters his fourth season with Wisconsin after leading the Badgers to a 7-5-3 (.567) record in the 2024 season. Ellis Jones, Will Smith and Thomas Raimbault will lead the Badgers on the field as the 2025 captains. Jones, entering his second season with Wisconsin, started all 13 games that he played in during his sophomore campaign. A Whitefish Bay native, Smith has experience captaining a top-20 nationally ranked high school team. Raimbault has three seasons of collegiate experience, including two with the Badgers, and looks to lead the offense during his senior year.

3 – PLAYERS TO WATCH – Three Badgers found their names on the Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch list, announced Tuesday by the conference. Sophomore goalkeeper Matisse Hebert posted a 7-3-3 record between the pipes, starting 14/15 games during his debut season. The keeper posted a 0.632 save percentage and averaged 1.04 goals against. Junior captain Ellis Jones will look to lead the Badgers' back line throughout the 2025 season. Last year the defender from Wednesbury, England, posted 14 shots and scored his lone goal in a conference match against Indiana. Sophomore midfielder Matthew Zachemski looks to build off his stellar freshman campaign. Zachemski earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors after starting in 14 of the Badgers 15 games and totaling nine points, good for third-most on the team.

4 – SCOUTING REPORT – Wisconsin will face the North Florida Ospreys for the first time in program history to kick off the 2025 season. The Ospreys went 7-8-4 last season, suffering a 2-1 loss to West Virginia in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Atlantic Sun Conference named North Florida preseason favorites and four players earned preseason selections, including redshirt senior David Perez who was named the conference Preseason Player of the Year. On Sunday, the Badgers will host the Bradley Braves in just the seventh meeting between the two teams. The most recent game was played in Madison and ended in a 1-1 tie two seasons ago. The Braves finished last season with a 4-8-4 record.

5 – HOW TO FOLLOW – Both games will take place at the Badgers' McClimon Soccer Complex, with admission free to all. The matches will stream on B1G+ and live stats can be found on the Badger men's soccer schedule at uwbadgers.com. Live updates will also be given on @BadgerMSoccer on X, as well as @badgermsoccer on Instagram.
