MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's golf team hosts the annual Badger Invitational, starting Monday, Sept. 22, at TPC Wisconsin. All eight UW golfers tee off at 7:15 a.m. for two rounds Monday, with five playing in the team lineup and three competing individually. The final round starts Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.
Fans are encouraged to come spectate at TPC Wisconsin for free. Parking at the clubhouse will come on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Aside from the course, fans can follow the action on @BadgerMensGolf on Instagram and @BadgerMGolf on X.Â
1. IN FULL SWING: The Badger's fall season is now in full swing after their opener at the Gopher Invitational. The team finished 11th overall, led by James Boustead's first career top-10 performance. The South African finished ninth at -1, thanks in part to a second-round 68. He'll feature in the lineup, along with the four others who started the Gopher.
2. EARLY FORM: With the lineup unchanged, all five Badgers who scored at the Gopher will see starting action this week. Senior Jacob Beckman finished 20th in Minnesota, using a bogey-free -2 final round to rise 29 spots on the last day. Sophomore William Harned took 38th at the tournament at +7, while Spencer Turtz finished at +10, and Charles Erlandson a stroke behind at +11.
3. NEW GROUND: This year's Badger marks the first time the Invitational tees off at TPC Wisconsin. The former Cherokee Country Club course was redesigned and reopened in 2023, joining one of the PGA's 30+ course network. UW has played the new ground several times this year in practice, including the qualifiers for the Badger Invitational. Turtz was the top-qualifier, finishing at -1 through four rounds. He fired a -2, 70, in Round 3 to carry him over the line.Â
4. WHOLE SQUAD'S HERE: The Badgers have three golfers competing individually this week, including Drew Sacia, McCord Grice and Vijay Kumar. All three competed individually at the Minnesota Classic two weeks ago, with Grice leading the way in 17th at +3. Sacia is in strong form himself, finishing +4 at the Classic, and coming in as UW's second-best finisher at qualifiers. He ripped off a -3 stretch across the first two rounds of qualifying, before ultimately finishing at +1. Kumar, a true freshman, got early collegiate experience at the classic, finishing 53rd at +11. Â
5. RAMPING UP: UW still has three tournaments left in the fall season after the Badger Invitational. They'll take the weekend of Sept. 27 off before taking the short drive to Erin Hills on Oct. 5 for the Marquette Intercollegiate. They stay on the road for the following two weeks, with trips to Charleston, South Carolina and Biloxi, Mississippi, to close out the season.
