Wisconsin unable to overcome a strong first-half surge by the Wolverines
ANN ARBOR, Mich - The Wisconsin women's basketball team fell to Michigan, 86–60, on Sunday afternoon at the Crisler Center.
Destiny Howell led Wisconsin with 12 points, adding five rebounds and three assists. Breauna Ware finished with 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, while Laci Steele chipped in 10 points.
How it happenedÂ
Michigan jumped out to a strong start, opening the game on a 21–5 run. The Wolverines carried a 46–21 advantage into halftime after shooting 40% from the field in the opening half.
Wisconsin showed resilience coming out of the locker room, shooting 50% from the field in the second half and outscoring Michigan 39–40 over the final two quarters.Â
The Badgers were efficient in the fourth quarter, connecting on 53% of their shots and 67% from three-point range in the final 10 minutes. Despite the late push Wisconsin was unable to close the gap and the Wolverines secured the 86-60 win.Â
Wisconsin closed the game shooting 40.0% (22-55) from the field, 27.3% (6-22) from three-point range (27.3%), and 90.9% (10-11) from the free throw line.
Michigan shot 41.1% (30-73) from the field, 9.5% (2-21) from deep and 66.7 (24-36) from the free throw line.Â
