MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin softball team (16-11, 2-4 B1G) returns to Goodman Diamond for the first time this season, hosting Maryland (13-17, 1-8 B1G) in its weekend opener between Friday, March 27 and Sunday, March 29.Â
Friday's game is set to start at 4:00 p.m. CT and will be televised on Big Ten Network. On Saturday and Sunday, first pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m. CT, as each game will be streamed on B1G+. Fans can follow along on live stats posted to uwbadgers.com. Â
Fans who will be in attendance throughout the weekend can check out UW's promotional schedule, HERE.Â
The Terrapins enter Madison with an undefeated record at Goodman Diamond, as they last swept Wisconsin in a three-game series in their lone appearance in the Badger State in 2024. Maryland leads the all-time series 7-5 over the Badgers—winning the last four games.Â
UW enters with a record of 20-9 in their home openers, as they defeated Iowa with the help of a walk-off triple from Kendra Lewis in her freshman year. The Badgers concluded the 2025 season with a 13-3 record in Madison, which was good for the third-most wins at Goodman in a single season.Â
This past weekend, UW racked up a pair of wins to secure their first Big Ten series victory of the season—surging past Penn State in Happy Valley.Â
Senior Shelby Jacobson led the way in the circle, tallying each of the Badgers' wins from the weekend. The right-hander tossed all seven innings in Sunday's 7-4 win, escaping a jam in the final frame to close it out at Beard Field. Jacobson eclipsed a career-high in victories in a single season, as she enters Madison with six under her belt.Â
At the plate, five Badgers have produced 30 or more hits on the season, led by the likes of junior Hilary Blomberg, who currently holds 35. The Verona native tallied five hits in three games versus the Nittany Lions, including a three-hit performance to spark a comeback in game one of the series.Â
Senior Emily Bojan has continued to be a staple in the leadoff spot, reaching base in every game this season for Wisconsin. The Chicago native is third in program history for the longest on-base streak turned in by a Badger with 27. Junior Alivia Bark has benefited in the process, as the righty earned two more multi-RBI games this past weekend to move into UW's top-10 for most in a single season at 11.Â
Junior Danielle Lucey put together one of the best all-around weekends for the Badgers in Penn State, tallying four hits and a pair of outfield assists to guide UW to two wins. Lucey is batting .400 on the season, tallying 32 hits and 22 RBI—emerging as a strong producer from the middle of the order. The Cottage Grove native has been on the barrel during conference play as well, leading the team in BA (.450) and hits (9) through six games of action.Â
Up Next: The Badgers are set to continue conference play next week, as they will travel West Lafayette, Indiana, to take on Purdue in a three-game series—beginning on Thursday, April 2. Thursday's game is set for 4:00 p.m. CT and will be televised on Big Ten Network.
