SEATTLE -- The Wisconsin women’s soccer team (0-3-0) fell to No. 4 Portland (5-0-0), 2-0, in its first game of the Husky Invitational on Friday night.

The game, held at Washington’s Husky Soccer Stadium, started off slow in the first half, with neither team scoring.

The Pilots’ ability to outshoot the Badgers (15-5) in the contest made the difference.

Portland found its first goal just over a minute into the second half from Micaela Capelle. Teammate Michelle Olivier was credited with the assist, helping earn Capelle her first points of the season and give the Pilots’ the 1-0 advantage with 43:51 left in the game.

Just minutes later, at the 50:47 mark, another Pilot duo found the back of the net to solidify Portland’s 2-0 lead.

Portland's Elli Reed served the ball to Taylor Brooke, who headed the ball into the back of the net for the Pilots’ final goal of the night.

Portland gave up just one shot in the second half, leaving the Badgers with little opportunity to prevent the shutout.

The Pilots’ goalkeeper Erin Dees tallied two saves to earn the shutout. In her season-debut, junior Lauren Gunderson (Middleton, Wis.), also finished the game with two saves for the Badgers.

Wisconsin will conclude the Husky Invitational against host Washington at 3:30 p.m. (CT) at Husky Stadium in Seattle on Sunday.

Washington and Syracuse face off in tonight’s second game at 9 p.m. (CT).
