MADISON, Wis. -- In its final road game of the regular season, the Wisconsin women's soccer team suffered its second loss in the Big Ten with a 1-0 setback at Illinois on Sunday afternoon.
Senior forward Laurie Nosbusch put a team-high three shots on net for the Badgers (8-5-3, 3-2-3 B1G), but a goal from Megan Pawloski in the 25th minute was the difference for the Illini (11-4-1, 5-2-1).

"I was disappointed with the way we started and most of the game," head coach Paula Wilkins said. "We were heavy-legged, chasing and not doing a very good job of dictating. I think by them controlling the midfield the way that they did, and they did it well, we were just chasing the ball and we didn't have the legs to do that.
"I think it was part of the product from going into double overtime on Friday night. I don't think we made very good decisions when we did win the ball. Our movement off the ball when we did win it was poor, because I don't think we were physically able to keep up with the pace of the game."
After recording four of the first six shots of the game, Illinois scored the game's lone goal at the 24:07 mark.
Vanessa DiBernardo sent a through ball to Shayla Mutz who chased the ball down before it reached the end line. UW goalkeeper Michele Dalton committed to Mutz, but Mutz was able to send a sliding cross to Pawloski who slid and buried the ball into the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season.
Illinois dictated play for much of the first half and finished with an 8-2 edge in shots after the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, the Badgers picked up their play and matched the Illini shot-for-shot as each finished with six.
Wisconsin's best scoring chance in the second half came from Lindsey Johnson. She let loose a shot from near the 18-yard box, but Illinois' Steph Panozzo made a diving stop to keep the Illini in front.
"At the end, I thought we did a better job to push," Wilkins said. "That's a positive and a negative. People were stepping up and putting greater pressure on the ball and winning balls earlier, but you wish that it would've happened earlier in the game."
Wisconsin landed five shots on goal, compared to just four for Illinois. However, the Illini did outshoot the Badgers, 14-8, for the game.
Dalton made three saves for the Badgers, while Panozzo finished with five to post her fourth consecutive shutout.
The Badgers now return home for their final three games of the regular season. Friday night the team hosts Purdue at 7 p.m., while Indiana visits on Sunday at 1 p.m.
"We talked about getting back to what we do well," Wilkins said of how the team can regroup for its final two games. "Players need to play with more urgency, but also more confidence. I think that they need to do what they did at the beginning of the year; we need to find that. Getting back to the basics is going to be important for us."
