BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Senior Alex Rigsby earned her 92nd career win to pass Jessie Vetter for the most in Wisconsin women's hockey history as the No. 2 Badgers defeated Bemidji State, 3-1, Saturday at the Sanford Center.
Returning from a seven-game absence due to an injury, Rigsby made 19 saves to improve to 9-2-2 on the season and 92-18-8 in her career as a Badger.
"I think it's quite an honor but it's also definitely a team achievement," Rigsby said. "I've been lucky enough to play on a team as great as this one throughout my career here as a Badger. But it means quite a bit though to pass Vetter up."

"Alex has been consistent. She had a great freshman year with great experience and has followed through on continuing to push herself and become better," UW head coach Mark Johnson said. "I was happy with her play today. After missing seven weeks and then coming off an injury she looked comfortable, made some nice saves for us and earned the victory. I'm certain she's happy to be back in the mix and back in the net."
Two of Wisconsin's three goals were scored during uneven play, with junior Katy Josephs scoring during a Badger power play and redshirt junior Brittany Ammerman tallying a short-handed goal. Junior Karley Sylvester scored the third late in the game on an empty BSU net to solidify the win.
Wisconsin earned six total points on the weekend after shutting out BSU 6-0 in the first game of the series Friday.
The Badgers (19-3-2, 15-3-2) outshot the Beavers (9-13-2, 6-11-1) 11-6 in a scoreless first period.
Josephs was first to put the Badgers on the board, sending a wrister past BSU goaltender Brittni Mowat early in the second period during a UW power play. It was her ninth goal of the season and third point of the weekend after assisting on two goals in Friday's contest.
Ammerman followed suit just one minute later, firing the puck into the upper shelf during a Beaver power play to tally the second short-handed goal of her career. The effort resulted in Ammerman's fourth point of the series after she scored two goals and recorded an assist in Friday's victory.
Bemidji State retaliated in the third, as BSU's Alex Citrowske snuck the puck past Rigsby 3:49 into the period to narrow the score to 2-1. But the Badger defense held off the Beavers' final push, and Sylvester finished the job by sliding the puck into BSU's empty net with 30 seconds remaining in the game.
Wisconsin took 31 total shots during the contest while BSU recorded 20.
The Badgers return to LaBahn Arena next weekend for a series against WCHA opponent Minnesota Duluth. The series begins with a 2 p.m. tilt Saturday before concluding with a 3 p.m. tilt Sunday.
