MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team (10-4-2 overall, 4-3-2 Big Ten) has a well-deserved break before heading to Iowa on Saturday to take on the Hawkeyes at 7 p.m. CT. 1. WEEKEND SPLIT: UW split the weekend on the road winning 1-0 over Illinois but falling 2-0 to Northwestern. Sophomore Dani Rhodes had the breakthrough in 87th minute against the Illini off of an assist from freshman Lauren Rice.
2. SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES: Iowa is 8-6-1 on the season and 3-4-1 in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes are 5-4-0 on their home field and 2-2 in conference home games. The Badgers and Hawkeyes have played six of the same teams and Iowa is 3-2-1 against that field while UW is 2-2-2. The Hawkeyes have one ranked win, blanking then-No. 23 Rutgers, 1-0, on Oct. 5.
3. ON THE RHODES AGAIN: Rhodes has had points in nine of 16 games this season and Rice has had points in five. Rhodes ranks fifth in the conference for points (21) and third with nine goals and 0.56 goals per game. Rhodes has six goals in road games only.
4. THE NORTH REMEMBERS: The last time the two teams faced was Oct. 9, 2016 at the McClimon Complex when junior Emily Borgmann netted the lone goal in the 62nd minute, punching in a pass from Micaela Powers from 18 yards out to give UW a 1-0 victory. Wisconsin held a 13-7 edge in shots and 6-2 advantage in shots on net.
5. WE'VE GOT HISTORY: Wisconsin leads the all-time series with Iowa, 11-5-3. The Badgers also hold a 4-3-2 advantage in Iowa City and won their last time in Hawkeye territory in 2015, 2-0.
