Erin, Wis.— Sophomore
Sam Anderson and junior
Pete Kuhl led the Badgers to a dominant third round that helped the Badgers finish 8
th overall at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills.
Wisconsin got off to a slow start through the first two rounds, but defied intense winds and stormy conditions on day three to post the fifth-best team round of the day and rise up three places on the leaderboard. That charge was led Anderson (69) and Kuhl (68) who dropped their lowest rounds of the season. Sophomore
Griffin Barela also shot his lowest round of the tournament on Tuesday, posting an even-par 72.
The unsung hero of the event was sophomore
Tom Calbi who placed a collegiate career best T16th place after scoring a 219 (+3) while competing as an individual.
As a team, Wisconsin placed for 8th with a 54-hole total of 893 (+29).
Thoughts From Coach Burcin:
"I'm very proud of how the guys responded today. Pete and Sam really stepped up. I think we saw what we know we are capable of.
Tom Calbi also had a breakthrough as an individual, he was very solid."
