1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers are coming off of a sweep of Minnesota State in Mankato. The Badgers earned a 2-1 win on Friday as
Daryl Watts scored the game-winning goal. On Saturday,
Makenna Webster netted a natural hat trick to lift the Badgers to a 6-2 triumph.
Katie Kotlowski,
Casey O'Brien and
Maddie Posick also scored to give UW its NCAA-leading 12th triumph of the season.
2. ALL THE AWARDS:
Kennedy Blair and
Makenna Webster have earned WCHAÂ monthly honors for October. Webster also earned WCHA Forward of the Week for the second time this season after she posted a multi-point game in Sunday's win against Minnesota State with the first hat trick of her collegiate career and an assist to total four points. She also scored a goal in Saturday's win to get to five points over the weekend. She continues to lead the NCAA in points this season with 27 and is tied for the best plus/minus in the nation at +23. Blair has also earned WCHA Goaltender of the week twice this season and leads all NCAA goalies with 11 wins and four shutouts this season. She leads the league with a 0.94 for goals against average and is second with a save percentage of .952. On Wednesday, Webster was also named the HCA National Player of the Month.Â
3. WHAT A STREAK: The Badgers currently have an 18-game winning streak dating back to Feb. 27, 2021 when Wisconsin defeated Minnesota-Duluth 4-3 in OT to clinch the WCHA regular-season title. More than half of the wins (10) have come against ranked teams during that stretch, including four triumphs against teams ranked in the top-three in the country. A win on Saturday would match the school record for the longest winning streak in program history of 19, which has happened twice - Feb. 1, 2006- Oct. 21, 2006 and Jan. 29, 2011- Oct. 12, 2011.
4. HOME COOKING: The Badgers have been stellar at LaBahn Arena as UW is 94-4-4 at LaBahn Arena since the start of the 2015-16 season, good for a .957 winning percentage. The Badgers have had 46 shutouts at LaBahn during that streak, including six against the Beavers. UW also enters this weekend with a 13-game home winning streak against BSU.
5. FIRE AWAY: The Badgers lead the country in shots with 472 shots on target and are one of only three teams in the country with more than 400 shots on goal this year.
Daryl Watts leads the country with 61 shots on target this year, while
Makenna Webster is second with 59.Â
