Five Things to Know: UW heads to Nebraska

Badgers hit the road for a Saturday showdown with the Huskers

MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women's soccer team opens a three-game road swing with a trip to Lincoln, Nebraska, to take on Nebraska. Kickoff on Saturday is set for 2 p.m. and fans can watch the game live on Big Ten Network+.

1. LAST TIME OUT: UW went 1-1 in their home stand against Illinois and Purdue at the Mercyhealth Sportscore Two Complex in Loves Park, Illinois. The Badgers took down Illinois, 1-0, courtesy of a first-half goal from Emma Jaskaniec and the fell to the Biolermakers, 2-0. Senior goalkeeper Jordyn Bloomer totaled a save in each match and faced eleven shots, allowing only two goals.

2. WE HAVE HISTORY: Wisconsin is 5-4-2 in matchups against the Cornhuskers. Last time out, the Badgers defeated Nebraska, 2-0, with goals from Emma Jaskaniec and Cameron Murtha. Jaskaniec has two goals on the year and will look to develop a scoring streak in the matchup.

3. STEADY SENIORS: Seniors Cameron Murtha and Maia Cella look to make their 72nd career starts for the Badgers this weekend against the Cornhuskers. Both Murtha and Cella are the only players on the team to start in every game for Wisconsin since 2017 and both were named to the preseason All-Big Ten team.

4. KEY STATS: Against opponents, Wisconsin is tied when it comes to shot on goals at 15 apiece. Sophomore forwards Emma Jaskaniec and Claire Odmark have each scored two goals for the Badgers this season. The Badgers are also holding opponents to an average of 1.00 goals per game, which is tied for the fourth-best mark in the league.

5. TIGHT BATTLE IN THE BIG TEN: Coming off its third conference championship in school history, Wisconsin is alive in the Big Ten race. After going 1-1 over the home stand, the Badgers' 3-2 record puts them in a tie for third with Indiana and Northwestern, the Badgers' two opponents next weekend. Preseason league favorite, Penn State and Rutgers sit atop the standings at 4-1. Nebraska is in 11th at 1-2-1.
