Badgers head to Pittsburgh for Big Ten showdown
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin women's golf is headed out east to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to compete in the 2023 Big Ten Championship at the Fox Chapel Golf Club. The Badgers will play a total of 54 holes from Friday, April 21 to Sunday, April 23.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:
1. Last Time Out: The Badgers last competed at The Lady Buckeye Invitational where they finished in 10th place at 30-over for a total 894 (293-293-308) after 54 holes at the Ohio State University Golf Club. Host Ohio State, ranked No. 25, was one of six top-50 teams competing in the competitive invitational. Wisconsin will face five of those ranked teams this weekend at the Big Ten Championship. Vanessa Ho led Wisconsin as the Badgers' top finisher, shooting a 74-70-77=221 to finish five-over and tie for 27th place.
2. The Course: The Big Ten Championship will take place at the Fox Chapel Golf Club. Designed by Seth Raynor & Charles Banks, the newly-renovated course will be played at 6,045-yard and par 71. The Fox Chapel Golf Club, which is regarded as one of the top courses in the state, is known for its brilliant greens and unique bunkers. Fox Chapel has hosted a number of events, including the US Open Women's Qualifier and the Lesley Cup.
3. The Tournament: The Championship is set to be played from Friday, April 21 to Sunday, April 23 with 18 holes being played on each day. Golfers will tee off of holes #1 and #9 at 7:30 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday, and 7:00 a.m. CT on Sunday.
4. The Field: Teams competing in the tournament are Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin. In the lineup for the Badgers are Emily Lauterbach, Vanessa Ho, Chloe Chan, Carly Carter, Alexia Siehl and Gia Feliciano. All six Badgers will compete this week in the lineup and with the top four scores being counted.
