MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team has its sights set on the LSU Tigers.
Here are five things to know:
1. KNOW THE OPPONENT: This match will go down in the record books for the first contest between the two teams.
The Tigers are 3-1 on the campaign, earning a major upset against No. 9 Texas in the second week of play. The team is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Sian Murphy. In her tenure at LSU, she has claimed two postseason berths for the Tigers.
LSU averages 15 shots per game and claims a shots-on-goal percentage of .516. The goalkeepers have tallied a .769 save percentage.
2. PLAYERS TO WATCH: Graduate goalkeeper Erin McKinney claimed her second-straight Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week award after a huge performance in week two. Throughout games between No. 3 North Carolina and No. 4 Duke, McKinney allowed two goals on 11 saves. Eight saves came from the game at UNC, where McKinney earned her third consecutive shutout.
Ida Hermannsdottir and Mollie Baker lead the Tigers in goals with three each, while Ava Galligan has picked up three assists.
3. RECAPPING THE WEEK: The Badgers are coming off an impressive 0-0 draw against No. 3 North Carolina and its first loss against No. 4 Duke, 2-1. Riley Philibin scored the Badgers' lone goal in the 85th minute against Duke. Aryssa Mahrt claimed the assist.
