LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Anthony Aicher is two shots off the lead and in-front of the Badgers for a second-straight tournament in fifth place with a 3-under 69 after the first round at the rain-shortened Cardinal Intercollegiate at Louisville, Ky. With heavy rains this morning, the tournament has been shortened to 36-holes with the final 18 played on Tuesday.

University of Arkansas-Little Rock leads the 18-team tournament after 18 holes with a 5-under par 283. Northern Illinois is second at 1-under 287. The Badgers are tied with five other teams in fifth place with a 6-over par 294.

The top individual score was posted by Nicklaus Benton of UALR and Brian Fister of E. Kentucky with a 5-under par 67.

Head Coach Michael Burcin reflected on the first round of play saying, "I am very proud of the guys as a whole and the position we are in going into tomorrow. The field is extremely bunched and we have an opportunity to win this event. Anthony (Aicher) and Tom (Welk) were very solid today. Tomorrow is going to be a fun day!"

This is the second tournament of the season for the Badgers. Play resumes with 18 holes Tuesday.
