IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Wisconsin finished in ninth place at the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational on Sunday, Apr. 15. The Badgers posted a season-best 54-hole score, with a 302-288-298--888.
Chris Meyer had his best finish of his career, tying for 18th with a 2-over par 75-68-75--218. Meyer also recorded his career-best 54-hole score.
Winning the tournament was host-team Iowa, recording a 282-274-284--840. Leading all individuals in the tournament was Iowa State's Nate McCoy, who posted a 14-under par 68-65-69--202.
Anthony Aicher finished tied for 26th, with a 4-over par 74-72-74--220, which ties his season-low 54-hole score. Thomas O'Bryan finished tied for 36th and recorded a career-best 54-hole score with an 8-over par 78-72-74--224. Brady Keegan finished in 50th place with a 75-76-78--229. Zach Balit rounded out the Badgers, finishing tied for 57th with a 79-79-75--233.
Badger Coach Michael Burcin commented on this team's performance, "Overall we are not satisfied with the finish. We had a terrific second round and had climbed the leader board again today but couldn't keep the momentum going to finish off the round. Chris Meyer had a terrific event and we are very proud of his 68 in the second round."
Wisconsin continues play at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind., on Apr. 21-22. The last tournament of the season will be the Big Ten Championships in Frenck Lick, Ind. on Apr. 27-29.
