Badgers unleash multiple record breaking performances at Fighting Irish Classic

Notre Dame, Ind.— Senior Jordan Hahn led a Badgers' display of low scores and multiple record-breaking performances as UW broke the 54-hole school record with an 11-under par total of 841 at the Fighting Irish Classic in Notre Dame, Indiana.

Head Coach Michael Burcin had hoped round three of last week's Marquette Intercollegiate would be a turning point for the Badgers for the remainder of the season. UW more than delivered on his hopes.
Wisconsin's three-round total eclipsed the 1998 record at the Northern Intercollegiate of 844 by three shots.

Hahn was electric for UW throughout the tournament, delivering a 65 in the second round that is tied for the 3rd-best round in school history and the best since Pat Duffy's 64 in March of 2007. The senior would go on to finish tied for 10th place with a 68-65-71=204 (-9), his best 18-hole, 36-hole and 54-hole performance of his collegiate career. That is tied for the third-best 54-hole individual score in school history.

Sophomore Griffin Barela was not far behind finishing tied for 21st with a 210 (-3). His score is now tied for 11th best 54-hole performance in UW history.

As a team Wisconsin got massive contributions throughout the lineup, including four season-best performances.

UW also notched a new best 36-hole score in school history of 560, and their second round score of 277 is now tied for the second-best round in school history.

Thoughts From Coach Burcin:
"We know this is what the guys are capable of. Trusting their work is paying off. These rounds following the final round at Erin Hills is great golf. I'm most proud of Jordan and to see everyone contribute this week when we needed them. We have a good team and they are starting to see that come to fruition."
