MADISON, Wis. – With its varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four in New Jersey on Saturday to take on Princeton and Syracuse, the balance of the Wisconsin women's openweight program took part in some extra racing on Sunday at Devil's Lake, meeting Minnesota to make up for the Big Ten Double Dual that was canceled on April 7.
Some racing for the first time in Cardinal and White, and the only time before the upcoming Big Ten championships, the Badgers novice eight finished second to the Gophers in a 2000-meter time of 7:24.31.
UW's second novice eight proved faster than Minnesota, clocking 7:44.14 to beat out UM by nearly 4.5 seconds.
In the second varsity four, Wisconsin's boat finished third behind Minnesota varsity four and second varsity four.
Finally, the Badgers' third varsity four rowed to a time of 8:19.17 to cross the finish nearly 24 seconds quicker than Minnesota.
