5 Things to Know: Boilermaker Invitational

Badgers ready up in West Lafayette ahead of Big Ten Championships

MADISON, Wis. --  The Wisconsin men's golf team travels to West Lafayette, Indiana to compete at the Boilermaker Invitational, April 13-14, in the Wisconsin's last tournament before the Big Ten Championships.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:

1. Last Time Out: Sophomore Griffin Barela went low in the final round to finish T13th individually at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. The Lakewood, Colorado native bookended the 54-hole event with a pair of 3-under par rounds of 69 on the first and last days of the tournament. As a unit, the Badgers finished in 13th place.

2. The Boilermaker: UW travels to West Lafayette, Indiana for the Boilermaker Invitational hosted by Big Ten rival Purdue. The event is played on Purdue's Kampen Course on the university campus, a product of famous golf course architect Pete Dye that has played host to numerous Big Ten and NCAA Championships.

3. The Lineup: Barela will be joined by senior Jordan Hahn, junior Pete Kuhl, fellow sophomore Sam Anderson and freshman Cameron Frazier in the Badgers' lineup this weekend. Senior Brett Robinson will play as an individual.

4. The Competition:  Wisconsin takes on Ball State, Cincinnati, Indiana, Kent State, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Purdue and Southern Illinois.

5. Thoughts from Coach Burcin:
"Purdue is always a really good test of golf. We've been inconsistent in the middle of the lineup with our emotions and mental mistakes so this will be an awesome opportunity to see where we have improved on those areas."

"This is the best time of year to win titles and this is another great chance to take one this weekend. We're also very excited to see Jordan and Griff continue their awesome spring play."
