Wisconsin closes fall season at Fallen Oak Invitational

Badgers return same starting five

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's golf team tees off in its fall season finale Saturday at the Fallen Oak Invitational. Senior Jacob Beckman leads them off at 9:50 a.m., playing three rounds over three days at Mississippi's prestigious Fall Oak Golf Course.

1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers were in Charleston, South Carolina, last weekend for the Bryson Invitational. They finished 8th at -8, earning the fifth-most birdies of the field (55). They'll return the same five starters, and play one individually: Spencer Turtz, Jacob Beckman, William Harned, Charles Erlandson, Vijay Kumar and James Boustead (Ind.).

2. FRESHMAN FINDING FORM: True freshman Vijay Kumar led the Badgers at last week's Bryson for the second time this season. The Nebraska native made his second-consecutive start in Charleston, finishing 17th at -4. He had a scintillating first 36-holes, notching a 69 (-3) on Monday, then a career-low 68 (-4) on Tuesday.

3. HARNED INTO THE 20s: Sophomore William Harned earned a season-first last week, finishing in the 20s at 28th, overall. He entered the clubhouse at -1 after rising 18-spots on the final day, thanks to a 70 (-2). Spencer Turtz tied with Harned in 28th, highlighted by a season-low opening-round 68 (-4).

4.  GOOD LUCK, CHARLIE: Junior Charles Erlandson has worked his way back into form with a top-40 finish at last week's Bryson. The Verona native finished even-park overall, thanks to a second-round 69 (-3). He yielded no bogeys during the back-nine of that round, and saw the putter heat up, holing four birdies to boot.

5. NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION: The Badgers wrap up the fall campaign with their sights set on a busy spring. The 2026 stretch starts on Feb. 9 with the annual trip down to Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Classic. That will be more of a tuneup, before going full-force in March at the Schenkel Invitational, then the Pay it Forward Collegiate. UW will have one more tournament that April before travelling out to Oregon for the Big Ten Tournament in May.
