MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.— The Badger men's golf team finished up the final round of the General Hackler Championship at the Dunes Club. The team came in 15th place in a highly ranked field with a final score of 906 strokes at 42-over-par.
Griffin Barela led the team through all three rounds of play, including a one-under-par 71 during the second round to mark the only under-par round for Wisconsin. He finished tied for 36th at five-over-par 221.
Following Barela was
Coalter Smith. The freshman and Barela both recorded a two-over 74 for the final round. Smith finished tied for 58th with a total 225 (+9).
No. 26 ranked North Carolina took home the trophy after shooting a team-combined 843 at 21-under-par. The medalist was Zack Taylor of host school Coastal Carolina. He finished at eight-under-par with a total of 208 strokes.
Wisconsin has one weekend off before traveling back to South Carolina to compete in Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw.
